About Athletes Edge Baseball

Athletes Edge Baseball
was founded in 2003 by Coaches Dan Magrath and Adam Wnukowski.  Dan and Adam head up a professional training staff that is dedicated to teaching and coaching the game of baseball to players ages 8-18, offering year-round skills instruction in all areas of the game in addition to comprehensive speed, agility strength and power training specifically designed for baseball players.

In 2006 Athletes Edge Baseball fielded its first AAU Team (U13).  Adam and Dan coached the 2007 AE U13 AAU Team to a 41-15 overall record.  The team reached the semi-finals of the New England Super Division Championships and the Sweet 16 at the U13 AAU Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC the only New England team to do so in the Division 1 Champions bracket.

In 2009 Athletes Edge Baseball will field 6 teams ages U10 thru U15.
Coach Adam is also the Head Coach of the Eastern Mass All-Stars, a team comprised of some of the most talented 12 year olds in New England.  Over the course of seven years, the 12U All-Stars have compiled a 43-13 record at the Cooperstown Dreams Park National American Tournament of Champions (NATC) week while advancing to the Sweet Sixteen three times (the only team ever from Massachusetts to do so during NATC Week). Their record is the second-best of all organizations which have entered teams in NATC week during each of the seven seasons. Out of a field including 98 teams, the Eastern Massachusetts All-Stars have earned an average seeding of #12; in 2006 the team was joint #1 seed and in 2007 EMass posted a 7-0 record to earn the #3 seed.

Coach Dan has been teaching and coaching youth baseball for over 14 years.  Dan continues to play competitively with the Acton Orioles of the Boston Men’s Baseball League over 40 Division and was a member of the 2004 Championship Team.

About AAU Baseball

The national AAU baseball program began in 1983 to promote youth baseball at its highest level of play and to organize district, regional, and national tournament programs. Teams in each district play a regular season as their schedules are established by a cooperative effort among the managers across each district. District tournaments are played to determine eligible district teams to advance to regional and national championship competition. Additionally, there are Division 1 and Division 2 tournaments organized throughout the United States open and available to all AAU baseball programs. These tournaments permit all teams to participate in post-season tournament play. All of the tournament play is well played and affords an opportunity for sportsmanship and competition at the highest levels for youth baseball programs.

AAU Baseball Commitment

The commitment to AAU Baseball is significant.  Tryouts are held in September and the teams are selected by October 1st for the upcoming season.  Winter training begins November 1st  for U13-U15 and January 2nd for U10-U12.  Winter training is conducted 2 days per week up until April 1st when the regular season begins.  Training consists of baseball skill development as well as a baseball specific
speed/agility/strength and conditioning program.  The regular season consists of weekend doubleheaders played from April 1st thru Mid June.  Teams also practice 2 days per week.  All teams compete in the New England AAU Regional Tournament typically held in mid-june.  Some teams may qualify and elect to play in the AAU National Tournament held sometime in July.  Past venues include the Ripken Experience Park in Myrtle Beach, NC and Sarasota FL.
