Athletes Edge provides a number of different training programs designed to enhance the overall speed, strength, agility, endurance and self-confidence of an athlete. Most programs take 6-8 weeks to complete, with a minimum schedule of three times per week in order to realize maximum strength and physiological changes. Athletes Edge has specific training programs designed for different sports and even incorporates training variations for specific positions within the sport. The programs have proven effective for over 100,000 athletes of all ages, levels and interests.
Training Programs are designed for any sport that requires Speed, Quickness, Agility, Strength and Endurance, including:
Hockey • Football • Baseball • Basketball • Soccer • Volleyball Lacrosse • Track and Field • Tennis • Golf • Skiing • Cycling
| Q: |
Who is the program for? |
 |
| A: |
We have a program for every level of athlete regardless of age and ability. With our programs you are sure to improve your speed, strength, and self-confidence. The more you put in, the more you get out. |
|
| |
| Q: |
What about age limits? |
 |
| A: |
Research has shown the greatest neurological changes in the body occur prior to age 13. Simply put, the more one can do prior to the onset of puberty, within a safe and controlled environment, such as Athletes Edge, the better neuromuscular system that athlete will have after puberty. Also, because of the physical demands this program places on the athlete, we conduct a thorough pre-program evaluation. If the athlete has sufficient strength, they will be allowed to participate in the training program. If the athlete does not have sufficient strength, we offer a variety of programs that will enable the athlete to develop the proper amount of strength needed to complete the program. |

| Q: |
What does the “Acceleration Program” consist of? |
 |
| A: |
First, you get very thorough functional, strength, and flexibility test to tell us about your athletic ability. Each athlete’s training is planned to include the super treadmill, plyometrics and strength training. Advanced levels of training also use patented SprintCords.
Running Treadmill –- 13 sessions, 2-3 times per week. Used to analyze and improve running and sprinting mechanics. We help you lengthen and quicken your stride, so you are faster and more agile. You will use the treadmill to run in gradually increasing sprints, so your body gets conditioned to recover quickly from enzymes, which are released during bursts of activity.
Plyometrics – train once per week. Footwork drills to improve balance, agility, endurance and vertical jump. You will gain outstanding body awareness and the ability to move quickly and explosively.
Strength Training – 2-3 x per week. Specially designed weight lifting equipment to improve power base. For very young athletes we may also use strength-building techniques which do not involve weights.
Patented Sprintcords – Attach to arms or legs to increase resistance during running, hitting, throwing, and kicking. They are used differently for each sport. SprintCords enable athletes to strengthen at velocities used in actual athletic competition.
One is allowed a maximum of 10 weeks to complete the program from start date. You should plan to schedule three sessions a week to realize maximum strength and physiological changes. You should lift weights two to three times a week, run twice per week, perform plyometrics once per week. We will help you design your schedule when you begin. |

| Q: |
How does the Hockey Program differ from the
Acceleration Program? |
 |
| A: |
With the hockey program, we use the patented Hockey Skating Treadmill to train explosive speed and endurance instead of the running treadmill, however we do incorporate a number of backwards running sessions on the running treadmill. All other components of the program are the same. |
|
| |
| Q: |
Is treadmill running the same as running on a track/overground? |
 |
| A: |
Dr. Krams, a professor at the University of California Berkley, published a research study and found that walking and running on an adequately motorized and flywheel weighted treadmill is identical to overground walking and running. Normal fitness treadmills are NOT adequately motorized and flywheel weighted. The Frappier Acceleration® Super Treadmill is unlike any other treadmill in the world. It has capabilities of a 40 degree grade and 30mph, therefore training on our treadmill is identical to running on a track or overground. Furthermore with more than 100,000 athletes now trained on our program, the calculated training bouts combined with the proven benefits of incline treadmill running documented in the ACSM Journal by Steve Swanson, make the Frappier Acceleration® Program the leader in sports training. |
|
| |
| Q: |
When should I begin the Acceleration Program in relation to the athletic season? |
 |
| A: |
Try to start the program eight to ten weeks before training starts for your sport. This will give you time to finish the program and allow a week or two of rest before your sport begins. If a vacation or other plans will interfere with your schedule, move your starting date forward to allow extra completion time. You will get the best results when your training is not interrupted by more than a week, so try keep on track! |
|
| |
| Q: |
What can I do during the season to maintain improvements made during the program? |
 |
| A: |
We have maintenance programs available throughout your season, and can be scheduled at your convenience. |
|
| |
| Q: |
What can I do to keep making gains? |
 |
| A: |
The Acceleration Program has five levels. Each level of training involves greater intensity. Once you’ve been through one level, then participated in your sport, you may want to come back for the next level. Or you may complete the levels in succession based upon your maximal sprint speed. |
|
| |
| Q: |
How is the Acceleration Program different from what I can get at camps? |
 |
| A: |
Not to discourage camps, but our program is based on years of science, research, and program modifications. Also, camps teach you specific skills for your sport. Athletes Edge focuses on building speed, strength, quickening jumping ability, power, and overall conditioning. As the price is comparable, you get far more one-on-one time with professional trainers and you get over 6 weeks to absorb and practice what you’re learning. You get over 30 hours of training and unlimited use of our facility for the duration of your program. |
|
| |
| Q: |
How can I compare this program to other
conditioning programs? |
 |
| A: |
There is no other program like ours in the world. Frappier Acceleration® protocols were scientifically developed, tested, and researched with input from exercise physiologists, orthopedic physicians, athletic trainers, physical and occupational therapists and many others. We use patented equipment designed for and used exclusively by Athletes Edge Sports Performance Training. |
|
| |
| Q: |
What can parents get out of the program? |
 |
| A: |
Sorry kids, this place isn’t off limits to parents. We have a recreational athlete protocol specifically designed for the older, yet active individual. |
|
| Q: |
What can I expect at my first appointment? |
 |
| A: |
Come dressed to work out or have shorts, T-shirt and running shoes to change into. Basketball or crosstrainer shoes are best for plyometrics. Payment must be made the first visit, consent forms signed or returned on next visit. You’ll go through functional and strength pre-testing and your intro treadmill run. You will need about two hours for this first appointment. You’ll want to eat a light meal two or three hours before your appointment. After the session, you need to schedule for your pre-plyometric test. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SOON!!! |
